Meet your Farmers
Hi! We are Randy and Tanna Trogstad and we own and operate our family farm in Fillmore County, Minnesota, about 30 miles SE of Rochester. Our land has been farmed by the Trogstad family for over 100 years and we take great pride in caring for the land and the livestock we raise on it. We raise a small herd of LIM-FLEX beef cattle, which are a combination of Limousin and Angus breeds. Limousin produce high volumes of lean meat and Angus produce heavily marbled meat. We believe the LIM-FLEX genetic combination is the key to flavorful, tender, and nutritious beef! All animals are raised from birth to finish on our farm and are rotationally grazed in lush pastures. They are finished with a diet of hay and corn that is grown on our family farm, to get that perfect marbling in the meat. We process our animals when they have gained adequate weight so the animal is selected specifically for you the week of your processing appointment. We use a local processing facility that we know and trust, and we transport the live animal from our farm to the processing facility for you.
Purchasing Beef
Pricing per lb, hanging weight:
Quarter: $2.40 ($125 deposit, ~165lbs meat)
Half: $2.30 ($250 deposit, ~335lbs meat)
Whole: $2.20 ($500 deposit, ~670lbs meat)
*We do not sell by the pkg or less than 1/4 of the animal, however we recommend families and friends coordinate on their own to split a larger purchase. You will need a deep freezer and your meat will stay fresh for more than a year.
**We collect a non-refundable deposit at the time of booking, which will be applied to the final cost of the live animal purchase. The balance of cost of the meat is determined based on the hanging weight, and varies from animal to animal. We will contact you the week before your meat is ready to pick-up with the final payment amount. We accept cash, some local checks, cashier's checks, venmo, and Paypal. All payments must be made prior to picking up your beef.
This is a live animal purchase from us so the butcher will work with you directly on your custom cuts and they will be paid separately from us for the processing. Our quarters are sold as side-splits, which means we do not reserve front or back quarter; all quarters will be 1/4 of the total meant and include all available cuts. T-bone, Ribeye, Sirloin, Round Steak, Roast, Ribs, Stew Meat, Sirloin Tips, Brisket, Skirt Steak, Flank Steak, Ground Beef, Soup Bones, and even organ meats can be included in your purchase. We recommend at least 1" thick cut on the steaks.
